Information on Reopening of KAKIDEN Gallery

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued patronage and support.

KAKIDEN Gallery opened its doors for the first time in Shinjuku, Tokyo in 1976, under the supervision of many of the art worlds’ leading figures including Tokuro KATO, Fusenshi OKOCHI and Hyonenshi KAZUE, and has long been loved by all for more than 30 years. I feel honored that the Gallery has partly fulfilled its role as a gateway to success for up-and-coming young artists. There are now a large number of artists who have grown and received designation as living national treasures, primarily due to your guidance and patronage. I wish to extend my sincerest gratitude for all you have done.

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary, we moved the Gallery to the Yasuyo Building where Kyo Kaiseki KAKIDEN is located, to make a fresh start as a new cultural spot in Shinjuku and as a gallery for adults to enjoy. With the design by Yukio HASHIMOTO, an elegant and modern new gallery was completed.

As the first personal exhibition that should be referred to as the opening, we invite Morihiro HOSOKAWA who will place his recent works such as hand-formed bowls and hanging scrolls on exhibition.

I hope all of you will take the opportunity to drop by the new Gallery when you visit Shinjuku. Thank you again for your patronage, I ask that you continue your support with the new “KAKIDEN Gallery.”
